Reviews

‘I opened this book with high expectations. They have been admirably fulfilled.  Here we have a stand alone thriller about two lonely people who pursue a relationship of monthly weekends together in remote spots.  Suddenly one of these two fails to get to the rendezvous-vous and the other realises how very limited her knowledge of her  companion is . . . Gradually the reader pieces together some of the facts as an atmosphere of rising tension envelops everything. The intelligent way Jay, Lisa and others plan their actions is enjoyable and the suspense of the tale is palpable.’

I’ve done it!

Posted on Jul 3, 2019 in Finishing a novel, Uncategorized | 12 Comments

Last September I posted a photo of my desk all clean and tidy in preparation for beginning to write a novel. Well, I’ve done it and this is a photo of my desk last week just after I sent off the final draft to my editor. After I’d pressed send, I danced around the house. Note writer’s companion cat asleep on the shelf on the left and celebratory glass of wine in the centre. I thought of my husband and wished he were here. It’s the first novel that I have written without him at my back. Still, it was a sweet moment and I raised a glass for us both.

Well done, Christine!!! I am delighted for you. Is it a new novel in your series? A standalone? I’m excited for you!

Thanks, Margot! It is a new one in the series. There is nothing quite like the feeling of having finished a novel, is there? I do hop your own writing is going well.

Congratulations seems an inadequate offering! Maybe “brilliant” and “wonderfull” are better. Anyway best wishes ! Helen H.

What an accomplishment, Christine! And I will be looking forward to reading the book once it is published.

You must be so pleased with yourself! but I smiled at the contrast between your before-and-after desk: a sure sign of a job well done! Which series is this? not Cassandra by any chance?!

Thank you! Not Cassandra, I’m afraid, though I would like to write another one day. This is the second series featuring scientist, Katie Flanagan.

Congratuilations. I would expect finishing a book deserves more than one glass of wine.

What a happy moment. I particularly like the two pairs of glasses on the desk, and wonder if your dance around the house was done in double or triple focus. I know your shoulders must be lighter by all that weight sliding off them as the manuscript was sent on its way. Splendid.
